Shock absorbers keep the vehicle body stable by preventing it from pitching and rolling. They also prevent the tyres from bouncing off the road surface, which could cause loss of vehicle control and affect handling. They effectively resist both tyre and vehicle body motion.
When shocks and struts are working effectively, the vehicle will have good traction on the road with optimum vehicle body stability in most driving conditions: e.g. stopping, turning, swerving, and riding over bumps and potholes.
